Aromas of cassis and black cherry. On the palate, the wine is juicy and bright with a nice black cherry and cassis flavour, mixed with a dusty earthiness. Restrained, powdery tannins. A perfect counter to the richness and fat of many grilled foods.

Growing conditions

Our signature, 100% Zweigelt is from Kalala’s Westbank Vineyard. The cooler climate is well-suited to the Zweigelt varietal while long days of sunshine allow the grapes to reach their full potential for a fuller-bodied version of the wine.

Winemaking notes

Picked on October 21st Crushed on 29th, 36 hours cold-soaked for acid balance. Fermentation lasted 17 days and the wine was pressed off its skins on November 16th. It then went through malolactic fermentation to soften the acidity and was aged in mainly American and French barrels for 12 months.
